Book Review: Dream On

Golfers - low to mid handicappers alike - often fantasize about breaking par. It's only natural as (just about) anyone who has ever picked up a club has hit a "perfect" shot or played a hole so well that par was a given. The thought: What if it could string together 18 of these holes?

Like many debates in bars or conversations in the workplace designed to pass the time, it's not uncommon to consider the possibility of shooting par or better. Many people break par and many more dream about it. John Richardson took it one huge step further, however. A 24-handicapper, he was determined to break par in just one year.

Dream On: One Hack Golfer's Challenge to Break Par in a Year is the story of how John set out to achieve his goal, all while working a busy schedule and maintaining a happy home with his wife and young daughter. It is now available in paperback.

Beyond the entertaining, easy-to-read book, if you're a fan of motivational quotes, you'll find plenty in Dream On.
* Walt Disney: The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.
* Winston Churchill: Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm

Additionally, you'll "hear from" Mark Twain, Thomas Alva Edison, Abe Lincoln, John Lennon and many more.

I won't spoil the ending for you, but I will say that 360 days into the quest, the goal had not been met.

Recommendation: Buy this book, read it and be prepared to look at yourself in the mirror. Is there something that seems unattainable? Are there dreams you've had, but gave up on because of the rigors of life? Nothing is out of reach and John Richardson's story is proof that anything is possible with the right mindset and determination.

Published by Skyhorse Publishing, you can find Dream On in book stores and across the Internet - from Barnes & Noble and Borders to Amazon.com.
