Top Golf Resorts Poll Recognizes The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island

(AMELIA ISLAND, Fla.) - The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island has been named one of the top five golf resorts in Florida by the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler reader's poll. Coming on the heels of the completion of a $65 million enhancement to its 446 guest rooms and suites, spa and ballroom, and showcasing an adjacent18-hole golf course renowned for its immaculate year-round conditions, the resort impressed readers with its full range of experiences and amenities.

Readers referred to this oceanfront resort as a "castle on the beach" and editors encouraged visitors to experience the hammock massage (to elongate the spine) at the The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Amelia Island and to dine at Salt, where the menu features local seasonal ingredients enhanced by infused salts.

Golfers who are guests at the resort have access to The Golf Club of Amelia Island, a private membership club noted for its impeccable conditioning and classic parkland layout. The par 72, which plays 6,696 yards from the tips, blends the natural woodlands and wetlands and is framed by elegant ancient oaks and strategic bunkering.

"Every member and guest who plays this golf course wants to come back for another round," said John Price, Director of Golf. "The greens roll so pure and the shifting ocean breezes ensure each round provides a new experience."

Condé Nast Traveler's 2012 golf poll results were derived from the magazine's readers' choice survey, where golf resorts were rated on eight criteria: course design and access, golf staff and services, rooms, overall service, dining, location, overall design and activities.

Golfers wishing to experience the entire resort may take advantage of Beaches and Bunkers package available now through Dec. 30.
