Pound Ridge Named Golf Magazine's No. 1 'U.S. Open-Worthy Public Course'

New York's only Pete Dye-design tops list of elite layouts

(POUND RIDGE, N.Y.) - Pound Ridge Golf Club - the Pete Dye-design in Westchester County - has been named GOLF Magazine's No. 1 "U.S. Open-Worthy Public Course."

The magazine's June issue places Pound Ridge atop a list of world-renowned and storied layouts stating, "This brutal beauty from Pete and Perry Dye is loaded with wetlands, rock outcroppings, fescue-topped mounds and devilish greens."

Quintessential Dye, Pound Ridge exhibits all the qualities for which he's so renowned: dramatic, beautiful, rhythmic, challenging, deceptive and subtle. A strategic blend of challenging driving holes and intriguing risk/reward approach shots have earned Pound Ridge a spot alongside TPC Sawgrass, The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, Whistling Straits and Harbour Town in Dye's pantheon of work.

"This honor is a testament to Pete's vision and the exemplary work of our staff to create a truly world-class playing experience," says Ken Wang, Pound Ridge's owner.

The list was composed by GOLF Magazine architecture and course rankings editor Joe Passov. One of the foremost authorities on golf travel, Passov has played more than 1,200 courses in 46 states and 21 countries.

Since opening in 2008, Pound Ridge has earned world-class accolades from Golf Digest, GOLF Magazine, Golfweek, AskMen.com, Rolex and LINKS Magazine. It quickly emerged as a "destination golf course," sought out by serious golfers collecting the world's best golf experiences.
