Westwood, Feng and Lehman Lead Titleist to Five-Win Week

(Fairhaven, MA) - Winning demands consistency, and the Titleist golf ball’s global momentum continued again this week with five more wins across the worldwide professional tours. Pro V1x loyalist Lee Westwood advanced to the Titleist Winners’ Circle by capturing the European Tour’s Nordea Masters in Sweden. At the Wegmans LPGA Championship, Shanshan Feng relied upon the Pro V1x en route to becoming the first-ever player from mainland China to win an LPGA event.  And on the Champions Tour, Tom Lehman trusted the Pro V1 to successfully defend his title at the Regions Tradition. Additional victories on the Nationwide and Canadian Tours advanced Titleist’s 2012 win count to 75, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 10.

EUROPEAN TOUR:  Westwood fired four consecutive rounds in the 60’s as he cruised to his third victory (1996, 2000) at the Nordea Masters.  Westwood relied on stellar iron play to post a 19-under 269 total, five shots clear of his nearest competitor.  The win marks the 22nd European Tour victory for the 39-year-old.

LPGA:  Feng became the first-ever player from mainland China to win an LPGA event, and she did it on a major stage.  The 22-year-old Feng entered the final round of the Wegmans LPGA Championship three strokes off the lead, but climbed her way up the leaderboard, finishing with five birdies, no bogeys and a tournament-low round of 5-under 67.   The round was highlighted by a birdie on the 17th hole that helped clinch a two-stroke margin of victory over four players, including fellow Pro V1x player Stacy Lewis.  Titleist was the top golf ball choice of 100 players (67%) in the 150-player field, more than six times the nearest competitor with 15.

CHAMPIONS:  Titleist players finished in each of the top three positions at the second senior major of the season, where Lehman withstood day-long rain and challenges from fellow Pro V1 loyalists and co-runners-up Bernhard Langer and Chien Soon Lu to win his second straight Regions Tradition. Lehman shot a final round 4-under 68 en route to a 14-under 274 victory total.

Lehman shot four consecutive rounds in the 60s at Shoal Creek to become the fourth player to win the Regions Tradition multiple times. The win also marks Lehman's sixth Champions Tour victory.

Titleist was the top golf ball choice of 53 players (70%) in the 76-player field, more than five times the nearest competitor with 9.  Titleist was also the field favorite in the irons (19) and wedge (57) categories.  The winner also relied upon Vokey Design sand and lob wedges and a Scotty Cameron putter.

NATIONWIDE:  Lee Williams (Pro V1x) won the Mexico Open for his first Nationwide Tour title, closing with a 2-under 70 for a one-stroke victory over Paul Haley II (Pro V1).  Williams finished at 14-under 274 at El Bosque, while Haley, who won the Chile Classic in March, shot a final round 4-under 68 in the runner-up effort.

Titleist was the top golf ball choice of 108 players (75%) in the 144-player field, more than eight times the nearest competitor with 13. Titleist was also the field favorite in the irons (51), wedge (175) and putter (57) categories.

CANADIAN:  Andrew Roque (Pro V1x) fired a final round 9-under 61 to rally and win the Times Colonist Island Savings Open.  Roque, the first-round leader and Canadian Tour Q School medalist, finished at 14-under-par 266 to win by three strokes at Uplands Golf Club.

PGA TOUR:  Titleist Brand Ambassador John Merrick (Pro V1x, 910D2 driver, 910F fairway metal, 910H hybrid, MB irons, Vokey Design SM4 sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 putter) shot a final round 1-under 69 to match his best PGA Tour finish with a runner-up performance at the FedEx St. Jude Classic.  He finished one shot behind the champion and was followed by four players who tied for 3rd, including Nick O'Hern (Pro V1, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges), Chad Campbell (Pro V1x, Vokey Design lob wedge, Scotty Cameron Kombi putter) and Ryan Palmer (Pro V1x, AP2 irons).

Titleist was the top golf ball choice of 103 players (66%), more than six times the nearest competitor with 16.  Titleist was also the field favorite in wedges (124) and putters (65).
