EWGA Sets Field for 2nd Annual Champions Cup

National Women’s Amateur Match Play Tournament Staged in El Cajon this Weekend

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – Sixteen eight-person teams – from New Jersey to Florida, Oregon to Arizona, Ohio to Arkansas – will vie for the coveted EWGA Champions Cup match play championship November 10-11 at Sycuan Resort in El Cajon, California.

Comprised of women amateur golfers from across the country, each group entered the national field by taking first, second or third-place team honors in one of four regional qualifiers held in September.  The Champions Cup is conducted by the EWGA, an organization of 14,000 current and aspiring business and professional women nationwide.

“In our second year of our Champions Cup event, we’ve nearly doubled in size,” says EWGA CEO Pam Swensen.  “Match play is a popular competitive playing format because of the team camaraderie and ability to equalize multiple skill levels.  We look forward to a successful outcome for one lucky team this weekend.”

The final field includes teams representing the following EWGA Chapter-based regions:
* St. Louis, Mo.
* Des Moines, Iowa
* Cleveland, Ohio
* Central New York
* Northern/Central New Jersey
* Central Arkansas
* Manatee, Fla.
* Tucson/Old Pueblo, Ariz.
* Orlando, Fla.
* Orange County, Calif. (two teams)
* Dayton, Ohio
* Portland, Ore.
* Sandhills/Pinehurst, N.C.
* Tampa, Fla.
* Ft. Worth/San Antonio, Texas

The Champions Cup is a two-day event, consisting of 18 holes of four-ball match play and 18 holes of singles match play that will be conducted November 10 and 11 on Sycuan Resort’s Oak Glen course. Eligibility is open to all 14,000 EWGA members, situated in 126 nationwide chapters in nearly every metropolitan city, who are female amateur golfers, have a verifiable USGA Handicap Index and are in good standing.
