Arccos Golf Honored for Leadership in Data and Artificial Intelligence

(STAMFORD, Conn.) – Arccos Golf confirms that Arccos Caddie, its artificial intelligence platform developed in partnership with Microsoft, has been honored as one of the industry’s top innovations of 2017 by leading media outlets MyGolfSpy and SCOREGolf Magazine.

These latest distinctions – the MyGolfSpy Editor’s Choice Award for Consumer Tech and SCOREGolf’s Research & Development Award – concluded a banner year for golf’s most heralded data and AI company. SCOREGolf also named Cobra Connect Powered by Arccos as Accessory of the Year. Notably, Arccos users improved their handicap by an average of 3.55 strokes in 2017. That represents a remarkable 46x greater rate of improvement than the average golfer with a USGA handicap, and a significant increase from the 2.77 strokes that Arccos users improved in 2016.

“With or without USGA approval (which it now has), Arccos Caddie was a slam dunk for me in this category this season,” wrote SCOREGolf columnist Rick Young. “The data analytics platform allows consumers to have a virtual caddie on their smartphone that can assist with real-time club and situational recommendations on the golf course using past performance as a guideline.”

Golf’s first artificial intelligence platform, Arccos Caddie allows any player to Go Beyond Guesswork and have even more confidence in their club selection. The system leverages a data set of nearly 100 million shots hit during 700,000+ rounds played by the Arccos community and 418 million mapping data points on 40,000+ courses. Arccos Caddie also considers elevation and live weather conditions to show players their optimal strategy on nearly every hole in the world, regardless of whether they’ve previously played the course.

“Data is the currency of AI, and we’ve built one of golf’s most valuable assets,” says Sal Syed, Arccos CEO and Co-Founder. “Arccos Caddie is not only helping golfers worldwide make smarter decisions to shoot lower scores, it’s democratizing the game for the 97% of players who don’t have access to a human caddie.”

Arccos Caddie is offered as a premium upgrade to the Arccos 360 app. Tiered pricing – $7.99/month, $39.99/six months, $49.99/12 months – allows users to choose the subscription option which bests suits their needs.

“The PGA TOUR has done a great job of using advanced analytics to help its players practice and perform their best. At other levels of the game, capturing the necessary on-course data has been a real challenge,” said Mike Downey, Director, Principal Evangelist – Sports at Microsoft. “Arccos has cracked that code and built a robust data set which they’re deploying via the Microsoft Azure cloud to the benefit of golfers worldwide.”
